Accredited Practising Dietitians

What Is a Dietitian?

Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) are qualified health professionals who specialise in nutrition and its role in managing health and chronic conditions. They translate the science of food into practical, personalised advice tailored to your medical needs, lifestyle, and goals.

At Living Diabetes & Endocrinology, our dietitians are experienced in supporting people with diabetes, endocrine disorders, and complex health needs. Their evidence-based guidance helps improve metabolic control, manage symptoms, and promote long-term, sustainable change. Dieticians are an integral part of the multidisciplinary care team at LDE.

Supporting People Living With Diabetes, Endocrine Conditions & POTS

Food affects every system in the body—and the right nutrition plan can ease symptoms, stabilise energy, and improve quality of life.

Our dietitians work with individuals managing:

· Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes

· Pre-diabetes and insulin resistance

· Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)

· Thyroid and adrenal disorders

· Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)

· Unexplained weight gain or loss due to hormonal shifts

For people living with Type 1 diabetes who are exploring a lower-carbohydrate approach, we provide individualised advice and guidance to ensure safety, nutritional adequacy, and blood glucose stability.

We offer practical, sustainable strategies to improve blood sugar control, manage carbohydrate intake, optimise hydration, support electrolyte balance, and address digestive sensitivities—all with a focus on whole-person care.

A Collaborative Approach to Your Care

Our dietitians are part of the multidisciplinary team at Living Diabetes & Endocrinology, working in close collaboration to support your overall health.

We coordinate care with:

· Endocrinologists – to ensure medical management aligns with nutrition goals

· Diabetes Educators – for consistent messaging on glucose monitoring and medication

· Exercise Physiologists – to balance energy intake and physical activity

· Podiatrists – when dietary factors contribute to foot health complications

Together, we ensure your care is connected, comprehensive, and focused on the outcomes that matter most to you.

Why Nutrition Matters: The Clinical Rationale

Good nutrition is more than eating well—it’s clinical care that can reduce disease risk, improve symptom control, and enhance quality of life.

With tailored dietary advice, you can:

· Improve blood glucose regulation and insulin function

· Lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglycerides

· Achieve and maintain a healthy weight

· Support gut health, reduce inflammation, and manage food intolerances

· Reduce POTS symptoms by stabilising blood volume and electrolyte intake

· Improve mood, energy, and mental clarity

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. We help you understand your body’s needs and develop habits that work for you—without extremes or unnecessary restriction.
