Building Confidence with Diabetes Technology
A self-paced program for GPs who want to put CGM to work — not just understand it.
This content is intended for Health Care Professionals Only.
WHY THIS ACTIVITY
Diabetes technology isn't just an endocrinologist's tool anymore
Continuous glucose monitoring has moved into everyday general practice. GPs now have real, practical options to support both T1DM and T2DM management without referring on for every technology-related question.
CGM data gives you something a HbA1c can't: a day-to-day picture of what's actually happening between appointments. Used well, it sharpens medication decisions and turns vague patient conversations ("my sugars have been a bit all over the place") into specific, actionable ones.
But knowing CGM exists isn't the same as feeling confident using it.
Feedback from our GP Masterclasses tells us the same thing again and again: most GPs understand the concept of CGM, but far fewer feel confident interpreting the data or building it into a real consultation — on a day when time is short and the patient is sitting in front of them.
That's the gap this activity is built to close.
A working understanding of how to interpret CGM data in a real consultation.

Listen
Work through the on-demand session presented by Dr Michael Hancock.
THE JOURNEY
How the activity works
Reflect
Consolidate what you've learned before moving to the practical component.
Trial
Wear a CGM yourself, or apply it with a patient, and interpret the resulting data.
Reflect again
Consider how CGM will change the way you manage diabetes patients day-to-day.

Diabetes technology is evolving fast, and it's easy for CPD to stay theoretical. This activity was built the opposite way around — designed so you finish it having actually used a CGM, not just read about one.
